The cigar is very dark and has a pretty good feel in the hand. The foot is partially closed.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were dark; very dark. I had anise, light brown sugar, dark chocolate, earthy black coffee, and nutmeg. There was black pepper initially rated at an 8+. I love the black pepper. Not a bad start.

At the first third (31 minutes) the cigar has settled down and gotten more defined. It is still very dark but there is some sweetness that has picked up. I now had cedar and it's quickly followed by a brown sugar/nutmeg paste. It's very thick. There is still a lot of dark chocolate and earthy black coffee. There is also a lot of black pepper. I do not have the anise notes any longer. The finish is chocolate with the brown sugar/nutmeg paste and a nice amount of lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The texture of the paste lingers. The cigar is very dark but it has plenty of sweetness. I rated the first third at 93.

As I moved through the second third (56 minutes) I had the same primary flavors but the coffee notes rose somewhat and a little brown sugar decreased. Not a big change but noteworthy. The thick paste continued. The cigar is now full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The black pepper has toned down to a 7. The thick pasted continues to make the cigar interesting to me. I lowered the second third score to 92.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 22 minutes. In the final third I had a lot of chocolate and black coffee. The thick paste is still there but now it's more of a chocolate/nutmeg paste flavor. The cigar has a leathery taste. I don't really have the cedar any more and the brown sugar is almost entirely gone. The sweetness comes from the chocolate. The cigar is still very full bodied. The finish is a chocolate/nutmeg paste and a nice amount of lingering black pepper. The cigar is very enjoyable but it's a little different with that thick paste. I rated the final third at 91. A very good cigar that is a little different for Black Works Studio.

Overall Score: 92
