Viaje Skull & Bones Johnny Blaze (6 x 56)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Cigar-coop.com website)
For the better part of a decade, the Viaje Skull & Bones series for the most part have been named for after destructive bombs. This month the Skull & Bones series takes a different twist as three new releases hit the shelves – all three inspired by the Ghost Rider Marvel Comic Book characters.

Details of the blends have not been disclosed but it is believed the wrapper is a Criollo and the cigar is a Nicaraguan puro. The tobacco is believed to be Aganorsa.  All three blends are a 56 ring gauge: Johnny Blaze (6 x 56) REVIEWED TODAY, Ghost Rider (6 x 56), and Mephisto (6 1/2 x 56).

Each of the three offerings will be in 25-count soft bundles.

The cigar has a very good feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were a tangy citrus/cedar, then there are some nice sweet flavors encapsulated in a black pepper ball. The sweet flavors are brown sugar, cinnamon, and a nice caramel/nutmeg mix. Those sweet flavors act as the center of a candy that has a black pepper shell. Make sense? There was also a nice black coffee base. The black pepper is very good but on the retro hale it is amazing. The black pepper is around 7 1/2 on the draw but 8 1/2 on the retro hale. Very nice sweet/peppery start!

At the first third (34 minutes) the cigar settled down and changed quite a bit. The lead flavor is now more of a cedar. There was dry nutmeg combining with caramel, leather, some brown sugar and cinnamon, and a wide black coffee base with some earthiness. The leather is like a very old, worn leather. The finish is nutmeg with a small influence of caramel and nice lingering black pepper. The black pepper overall has settled down. The front end black pepper is now more of a 7 and the retro hale is not quite as intense either. I would say the cigar is medium to full bodied. Although this is not the sweetest cigar I've had it's flavor combinations are very appealing to me. I rated the first third at 94.

Moving through the second third (1 hour 13 minutes) the cigar made some improvements. The citrus notes have returned and combine with the cedar nicely. I still had all the other flavor notes. The cigar is still medium to full bodied but it's more of a high grade version. The finish is unchanged. The cigar improved, for me, in the second third. I raised the score to 95 for the second third.

The cigar lasted an amazing 1 hour 41 minutes. In the final third the cigar pretty much went back to the way it was in the first third, which was still very good. The cigar is now a low grade full bodied. This has been a very good cigar with a very good burn time. I rated the final third 94. Look for these but they are going fast!

Overall Score: 94.33
