The Zino brand is getting a makeover and relaunch and began arriving at stores in May, a revamped cigar line that is being released under the slogan of “Live life from A to Z.”
“The new Zino brand is inspired by people who celebrate a lifestyle and state of mind driven by experiences, open-mindedness and an unwavering curiosity,” said Edward Simon, chief marketing office at Oettinger Davidoff AG, via a press release. “Zino Davidoff himself was a restless pioneer of the tobacco world and, when he set out to learn and gather experiences around the globe, he was only 19 years young. While creating the new Zino cigar brand,A we aimed to suit Zino Davidoff’s sense of discovery and spirit to live in the moment, and are very excited about the result. The blend of the new Zino Cigars is sure to please those who look for earthy taste profiles with spices and some sweetness.”
That blend features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, a Seminal 56 seco binder grown in Nicaragua, and fillers that include Honduran visus from Olancho and Jamastran, Nicaraguan visus from Ometepe, and Dominican San Vicente and San Vicente Mejorado secos. The company calls it a medium bodied, medium intensity blend. The cigars are produced at the company’s Diadema Cigars de Honduras S.A. factory in Honduras.

The cigar is quite short and medium brown in color. It has an average feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were citrus, pear, apricot, brown sugar, light nutmeg, light cream, citrus peel, and black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7. The flavors have a light feel. Nice start.
At the first third (26 minutes) the flavor notes are about the same. The black pepper seems to have picked up a little. The flavors that were individual at the start are now combining to form one big flavor. The citrus, pear, and apricot all seem to be combining into one big flavor. There is plenty of brown sugar. And, the cream and nutmeg are combining nicely together. The citrus peel has decreased but it's still there, along with the light black coffee base. The cigar continues to taste light. The finish is a little short and one of dry nutmeg and fairly decent lingering black pepper. The cigar is mild to medium bodied. This cigar is tasty but light. I rated the first third 91.
As I moved through the second third (44 minutes) the black coffee is elevating. It's giving the cigar needed depth. The flavors are by and large unchanged but the cigar has more depth from the black coffee. The sweeter notes have somewhat of a floral note when they work together. The finish now has some cream to go along with the nutmeg. The lingering black pepper is better. Due to the cigar having more depth I raised the score to 92.
The cigar lasted 1 hour. A nice, quick cigar. The floral note continued. The elevated black coffee continued. The cigar is medium bodied at this point. The flavors did not change from the second third. The finish is unchanged. I held the score of 92 for the final third. This is a nice tasting cigar that is fairly light. It may make a very good morning cigar. You can purchase any size of these cigars HERE.
