The Royal Return is actually a two-cigar line consisting of Queen’s Pearls, a Connecticut Shade; and King’s Gold, a Connecticut Broadleaf. The common denominator with both of these cigars is that the Connecticut Shade and Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers had not been used on any ongoing ADventura offerings until the release of The Royal Return. Today we take a look at The Royal Return – Queen’s Pearls in the Corona size.
The lines in the ADVentura Cigars portfolio have had a theme of exploration. This has been seen in offerings such as ADVentura – The Explorer, ADVentura – The Navigator, and ADVentura – The Conquerer. With ADVentura – The Royal Return, the theme focuses on explorers bringing back gifts for the Queen and King from a sea voyage. As the name indicates, this includes pearls for the Queen and gold for the King. Both the Queen’s Pearl and King’s Gold are positioned as more ultra-premium offerings in the ADVentura portfolio.
Blend and Origin
In addition to a Connecticut Shade wrapper, The Royal Return Queen’s Pearls features an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from Ecuador, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. According to ADVentura Cigars, the tobaccos used have five years of age, and the rolled cigars have been aging for four months. ADVentura says the tobaccos go through a special fermentation process to give them a lighter profile.

The cigar is a golden brown and has an average feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a tangerine citrus, cedar, brown sugar, a small amount of citrus peel, nice amount of sweet cream, light nutmeg, and white pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. Sweet start.
At the first third (25 minutes) I still had the nice tangerine/cedar notes with a nice amount of brown sugar. The cream notes are quite sweet and may develop into a white chocolate flavor. The white pepper is still good. There is a little bit of an earthy black coffee base. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is citrus, cream, a touch of citrus peel, and pretty good lingering white pepper. The first third is quite sweet. I rated it 93.
As I moved through the second third (45 minutes) I still had tangerine, brown sugar, white chocolate, and a light black coffee base. The cigar is still medium bodied. The finish is unchanged. The cigar is still good and quite sweet. I held the score of 93 for the second third.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 5 minutes. In this segment the tangerine citrus is not quite as sharp but there is plenty of brown sugar and cedar notes to help out. The white chocolate is now back to more of a sweet cream. The black coffee base is light. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is citrus, brown sugar, a little bit of nutmeg, and improved lingering white pepper. I enjoyed this cigar a little more than the previously reviewed robusto. I held the score of 93 for the final third.
