Keeping with the company’s name, the new line is called St. Francis, a four-size line that is being produced at Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc.’s TAVICUSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. It uses an Ecuadorian oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua.
All Saints St. Francis Robusto (5 1/2 x 50) — $9.70 (Box of 20, $194)
All Saints St. Francis Toro (6 1/2 x 52) — $10.35 (Box of 20, $207) REVIEWED TODAY
All Saints St. Francis Huge (6 x 60) — $10.90 (Box of 20, $218)
All Saints St. Francis Churchill (7 x 48) — $11.40 (Box of 20, $228)
Three of the four sizes are box-pressed, the one exception is the 6 x 60 Huge vitola.
The cigar is dark and has a nice feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were dark chocolate, brown sugar, citrus peel, walnuts, and a full bodied dark roasted black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2.
At the first third (36 minutes) the cigar has changed from light up. The flavors are somewhat muffled. I still had the dark chocolate, citrus peel, a little nutmeg, brown sugar, walnuts, and an earthy black coffee. Although that's similar to the way the cigar started it's much darker now. The flavors aren't in a mix that appeals to me. The black pepper is very good. The finish is brown sugar and walnut with pretty good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. Interesting flavors but they're not hitting on all cylinders with me. I rated the first third 88.
As I moved through the second third (1 hour 11 minutes) the flavors seem to be decreasing in numbers. Now I had dark chocolate, a touch of brown sugar which is almost a nougat type flavor, nutmeg, walnuts, and earthy black coffee. The earthiness is very elevated. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is a little brown sugar and some earthy black coffee with good lingering black pepper. I rated the second third 86.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 45 minutes. A nice burn time. In the final third I had dark chocolate, hints of brown sugar, and earthy black coffee. The walnut notes dropped off. The finish is dark chocolate and earthy black coffee with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The dark chocolate notes are nice but there is not enough sweetness. I rated the final third 85.
