The award-winning Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua will be expanding with the addition of a 60 x 5 ½ size this Spring. Earlier this year, the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua No. 2 earned accolades in various respected industry publications most notably earning the #2 spot in Cigar Aficionado’s “Top 25 Cigars of 2021” list with a 95 Rating.
The new size, set to ship to retailers May 1, 2022, is appropriately named “Espeso,” the Spanish word for “thick,” which describes the wider ring gauge used in this soft-pressed 100 percent pure Nicaraguan blend – a blend created by AJ Fernandez and Rafael Nodal to pay tribute to the very first Montecristo cigar made in 1935.
“The Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua blend works incredibly well in the new Espeso vitola,” said Rafael Nodal, Head of Product Capability for Altadis U.S.A. “This is why AJ Fernandez and I decided it had to be the first size extension in the line after receiving Cigar Aficionado’s #2 Cigar of the Year in the No. 2 size. In my opinion the new vitola amplifies the flavors and complexity of the blend.”
The Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua is also available at all major US cigar retailers in the following sizes: Churchill, 52 x 7 ($17.50); No. 2 (#2 Cigar of the Year (2021)), 52 x 6 1/8 ($16.43); Toro, 54 x 6 ($15.95); and Demi, 46 x 5 1/2 ($10.40).
All come in 10-count wooden boxes except for the Demi, which comes in a box of 20.
