LCA Oddjob (6 x 52 Toro) [February, 2022 release]

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

The cigar is a 6 x 52 toro that uses a viso wrapper from Nicaragua’s Jalapa region, a Honduran habano binder and fillers from Honduras, Nicaragua and Paraguay, with production handled by Fabrica Centroamericana de Tabaco SA in Danlí, Honduras. Pricing is set at $12 per cigar, with production numbers not being disclosed.

As for the name of the cigar, it comes from the villain in the James Bond film “Goldfinger,” who is known for his iconic bowler hat with its sharpened steel rim. In the film, Bond investigates gold smugglers, which is a nod to the gold leaf that appears on Cavalier Genève’s cigars.

The cigar is nicely made and has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were citrus peel, a minute amount of brown sugar, a pasty nutmeg, and a massive amount of earthy black coffee and worn leather. There was black pepper rated at 7. Needless to say this is a very dark with almost no sweetness. Not a very good start.

At the first third (19 minutes) the cigar is burning way too fast. It's burning evenly but getting only 19 minutes out of the first third is not good. The flavors have not improved; a little citrus peel, a drop of brown sugar, pasty nutmeg, and massive amounts of earthy black coffee and worn leather. The finish is nutmeg and leather with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. Not much about this cigar appeals to me at this point. I rated the first third 82.

Moving through the second third (39 minutes) the cigar is still burning too fast. I burned through the gold diamond but even that could not help the cigar. I've had a lot better Cavailer Geneve cigars before but this is not one of them. I now had light citrus peel, a lot of earthy black coffee and a lot of worn leather. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The cigar is going downhill. I rated the second third 80.

The cigar lasted only 57 minutes. A typical 6 x 52 toro should last at least 1 1/2 hours. Well, mercifully the cigar came to an end. It was painful to play it out but I wanted to give you the full report. In the final third all I had was earthy black coffee and worn leather. That's it. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. There have been some very good LCA releases but this is definitely not one of them. If you like smoking a cigar that is basically worn leather soaked in earthy black coffee this cigar is for you. I rated the final third 76. If your tastes align with mine in any way save your money with this one.
