Mother Church by Crowned Heads Returns to JR Cigar and Casa de Montecristo

One of the most beloved and highest-rated releases from JR Cigar’s 50th Anniversary Celebration is coming back. The Crowned Heads Mother Church proved to be an incredibly popular cigar and will be brought back in limited quantities for JR Cigar and select Casa de Montecristo retail stores.

The cigar takes its name from the famed Ryman Auditorium, Nashville’s legendary music venue. Formerly known as the Grand Ole Opry House, the Ryman has played host to several of the most legendary musical acts of the last 100 years, including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and the Foo Fighters. Due to its resemblance to a church, the venue has long been known as Mother Church by Nashville natives.

The cigar will be released during a launch event with Crowned Heads at the Casa de Montecristo Nashville retail store on August 3 and will be available in select Casa stores the same day. It will then become available on JR Cigar a few days later.

“Developing ‘Mother Church’ and working with the JR Cigar and Casa De Montecristo team has been a surreal and amazing experience,” says Jon Huber, co-founder of Crowned Heads. “Mother Church was my expression of thanks, respect and homage to not only JR but to my hometown of Nashville,  as well. That’s why launching this cigar at the Casa de Montecristo in Nashville is so special. The cigar has found its way home.”

Handcrafted in Nicaragua at Tabacalera Pichardo – the same factory responsible for Crowned Heads Mil Dias and Juarez lines – Mother Church is rolled with a three-nation blend, ensuring complexity at every level. The filler is made with aged tobacco from three of the main growing regions of Nicaragua. For the binder, the team went with a bold, rich and sweet Connecticut broadleaf. The wrapper is a flawless Ecuadorian Corojo 99 leaf.

Touches of pepper, richness and leather become apparent at first draw, but it’s the tobacco-like sweetness that grows with each puff that makes Mother Church a truly enjoyable smoke.

Offered in a unique box designed to resemble the stained-glass windows and church-like features of the Ryman Auditorium, Mother Church by Crowned Heads is available in a 10-count quantity and in one size: 7 X 48 Churchill ($12.90 per cigar; $129.00 per box). Less than 1,000 boxes were made for this production, with some being allocated to select Casa de Montecristo retail stores.
