Viaje The Geisha Maduro (6 3/4 x 52 Perfecto)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

The cigar is a 6 3/4 x 52 perfecto that will be offered in two blends, one using a Nicaraguan corojo 99 wrapper and the other using a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. Both cigars use Nicaraguan binders and fillers grown by AGANORSA Leaf, which is producing the cigars at its Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A. factory in Nicaragua.

The two cigars will come in the same box, with 14 of each version offered in packaging that is designed to resemble a bento box. Pricing is reported to be $15 per cigar and $420 per box. Production is being limited to 400 boxes, according to the report, though the company indicated there would be more produced in the future.

The cigar is quite dark. There is not much difference between the color of the natural and the maduro. The natural is on the left and the maduro on the right.

The cigar has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was firm so I used my PerfecDraw tool to open the draw. The initial flavors at light up were a sharp citrus peel with brown sugar, leather, and black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. Quite a dark start.

At the first third (30 minutes) the flavors are about like they started. There is a decent amount of citrus peel and brown sugar, a lot of leather, and a whole lot of black coffee. The cigar is medium bodied at this point. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. The cigar has some sweetness with a lot of dark notes. I rated the first third 90.

As I moved through the second third (1 hour 3 minutes) the black coffee came out more. The leather is right behind it. And there was citrus peel with very light brown sugar. There's even some nutmeg in the mix. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. I rated the second third 87.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 36 minutes. The brown sugar came back a little better. I still had a lot of leather and black coffee. I also had the citrus peel and light nutmeg. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is unchanged. This is a very dark cigar but it does have some sweetness. I expected more from this cigar based on the hype. I rated the final third 89.

Overall Score: 88.67
