The cigar, simply called Cavalier Genève Limited Edition 2022 is a 6 x 54 box-pressed toro. Cavalier Genève does not disclose the tobaccos used for its limited editions.
It has an MSRP of $12 per cigar and is limited to 1,948 boxes of 10 cigars. According to Sébastien Decoppet, founder of Cavalier Genève, roughly half of the boxes will go to the U.S. while the other half will go to international markets.
The Limited Edition 2022 is rolled at Cavalier’s Fábrica Centroamericana de Tabaco S.A. factory in Honduras.
The cigar is nicely made and is a medium brown color. It has a light feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were rather underwhelming in intensity. There's a little citrus/cedar and brown sugar, a lot of earthy nutmeg, and a little black coffee. The citrus/cedar and brown sugar do not jump out at you. They are very subdued. What you will notice is the massive amount of earthy nutmeg. There was black pepper rated at 7. Hopefully the sweeter notes will develop.
At the first third (21 minutes) the cigar appears to be burning very fast. The sweet notes have not developed. They are still light. The earthiness is still quite high. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is nutmeg with good lingering black pepper. The sweet flavors are not bad, they're just light. I'm still hoping they develop more. I rated the first third 89.
Moving through the second third (39 minutes) it's obvious that this cigar is burning fast. Too fast for a 54 ring box pressed cigar. The citrus/cedar notes and brown sugar are quite light. You could call them faint. There are even faint toffee notes. Meanwhile the earthiness remains high. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish had hints of toffee and earthy black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. For a limited edition this cigar is lacking a lot. I rated the second third 85.
The cigar lasted only 57 minutes. A cigar of this size should get around 1 1/2 hours. About all I had for sweet notes at this point were hints of toffee and micro-hints of brown sugar and citrus. There was a lot of earthiness and black coffee. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish has very low hints of toffee and nutmeg with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar doesn't have much appeal. I rated the final third 82. This one was a big miss for me.
