Cavalier Genève Prospektor (6 x 54)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Haldwheel.com website)

Two years ago, Cavalier Genève released a cigar called Prospektor as a retailer exclusive, now the name is back with a new blend.

The new version of Prospektor is not only a different cigar, but it’s also not a limited item. Instead, this cigar will be sold at stores nationwide. It’s debuting in a single 6 x 54 toro extra vitola that uses two different Jalapa, Nicaraguan viso wrappers to create a barber pole appearance where the cigar has two different wrappers. Underneath the wrappers are a Nicaraguan habano binder and fillers from Honduras, Nicaragua and Paraguay.

It will have an MSRP of $11.40 per cigar and offered in boxes of 40, with retailers having the option to order 20-count refill bundles.

The original Cavalier Genève Prospektor was released in 2019 as an exclusive for Underground Cigar Shop in Fort Worth.

The cigar is nice looking with the barber pole wrapper. It has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were light citrus, toffee, nutmeg, and light earthy leather. There was black pepper rated at 7. The sweet notes are rather light. I'm hoping they pick up in intensity.

At the first third (28 minutes) the notes were cedar, light cherry, light toffee, quite a bit of earthiness, and a light black coffee base. The finish is light toffee and leather with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. The flavors continue to be nice but light. There is little intensity from them. I rated the first third 91.

Moving through the second third (56 minutes) the cigar is getting more earthy. There is a little more black coffee. I had light toffee, light cedar, hints of cherry, elevated earthiness, and black coffee. The cigar is still medium bodied. The finish is light toffee, black coffee, and a touch of leather with very good lingering black pepper. The sweet notes have gotten lighter. I rated the second third 89.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 18 minutes. The earthiness continued to increase. The notes are hints of toffee, earthiness, and black coffee. Not much in the sweet category. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is unchanged. The last couple cigars I've had from Cavalier Genève have had a lot of earthiness. The final third didn't have much going on. I rated it 86. This cigar isn't bad, it's just not very good.

Overall Score: 88.67
