Dissident Molotov (5 x 50)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

Dissident Cigars has released its first new cigar since the company changed ownership late last year.

The Dissident Molotov is a 5 x 50 robusto that uses an Ecuadorian rojiso wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic as well as EstelĂ and Ometepe, Nicaragua. As evident in pictures, it will feature an artful finish to the cigar’s cap. The MSRP is set at $12 per cigar and it is limited to 500 boxes of 20 cigars.

“The Limited Edition Molotov is an explosion into what’s to come for Dissident. New cigars, flavor profiles, & edgy designs are all ahead for this brand,” said Cynn Coburn, Dissident’s co-owner, in a press release. Coburn is also featured in the artwork for the release.

Coburn and her husband, Joshua, purchased Dissident Cigars late last year. This is the first new release from the company since the Coburns purchased the company. Dissident continues to make its cigars, including the new Molotov, at Fábrica Oveja Negra in Nicaragua and its cigars are distributed by Oveja Negra Brands.

The cigar's cap is very interesting.

The cigar is nicely made and has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were citrus, light cedar, a little bit of citrus peel, light toffee, cinnamon, and light leather. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. A nice start.

At the first third (28 minutes) the sweeter flavors have morphed into more of a peach. There are still hints of toffee, a little earthiness, light cinnamon, and light leather. The finish is a hint of citrus peel, a touch of toffee, and leather with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied, leaning toward medium to full. The front end flavors are very nice. I rated the first third 94.

Moving through the second third (47 minutes) I still had the peach notes but they stood alone as far as sweet notes. There is also a little earthiness, nutmeg, light leather, and now there is also black coffee. The cigar is now medium to full bodied. The finish still has some light toffee and light leather with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is still good but it lost a little. I rated the second third 92.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 11 minutes. The cigar made a nice bounce back. There are notes of peach, light citrus, light toffee, cinnamon, some earthiness, light nutmeg, and light leather. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is toffee, hints of peach, and light leather with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is quite good again. Cynn and Joshua have a nice cigar for their first since acquiring the company. I rated the final third 94.

Overall Score: 93.33
