Cavalier Genève’s newest regular production line is “a doorway into Cavalier’s world” according to the company.
Inner Circle is rolled in Honduras at the Fabrica Centroamericana de Tabaco factory and consists of a Cuban-seed wrapper from Nicaragua’s Jalapa region, Cuban-seed binder from the Jamastran area of Honduras and a four-country filler blend of Pennsylvania broadleaf, Dominican Piloto Cubano, Honduran broadleaf and more Cuban-seed tobacco from Jalapa.
Brand owner Sébastien Decoppet says that this is the first time he’s released a cigar with Piloto Cubano, Honduran broadleaf or Pennsylvania broadleaf.
Packaged in 24-count cabinets, Inner Circle comes in four sizes: Petit Robusto, measuring 4 1/2 inches by 50 ring gauge; Robusto Grande at 5 by 54; Toro, at 6 by 52 and a 6-by-52 Figurado. Suggested retail prices will range from $12.80 to $14.30.
Like all cigars from Cavalier Genève, Inner Circle is distributed by Illusione Cigars.
The cigar is very nice looking and has an average feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were citrus peel, brown sugar, apple, and leather. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. Interesting start. A little different.
At the first third (29 minutes) there were still some hints of apple but more than anything there's a lot of citrus peel. There is also some brown sugar and a lot of leather. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is leather with average lingering black pepper. I rated the first third 90.
Moving through the second third (50 minutes) the cigar got very simple; citrus peel, brown sugar, and heavy leather. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. The leather is fighting for the lead flavor. While there is a lot of citrus peel the brown sugar tries to equalize it. The cigar is starting to slip away. I rated the second third 88.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 12 minutes. Some citrus notes emerged which helped. There's still plenty of citrus peel, some nice brown sugar, and quite a bit of leather. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. The cigar made a modest improvement with the addition of citrus notes. I rated the final third 90. This isn't a bad cigar but it lacks significant sweetness to counteract the high amount of citrus peel and leather.
