Room 101 13th Anniversary (6 x 52)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

Room101 is celebrating its 13th Anniversary this year, and the cigar being released in honor of that celebration has made its way to stores.

It’s a Nicaraguan puro that comes in a 6 x 52 toro vitola and has an MSRP of $11.30 per cigar and $226 for a box of 20 cigars. Production is being limited to 1,500 boxes of 20 cigars, with the cigars made by AJ Fernandez, which also made Room101’s 10th and 12th Anniversary releases.

It will be immediately recognizable by the bright pink boxes it comes packaging as well as the pink bands it wears, which earned the cigar the nickname stinky pinky from Matt Booth.

The cigar is well made and has a nice feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were citrus, citrus peel, brown sugar, a touch of nutmeg, and quite a bit of dark chocolate. There was a lot of black pepper rated at 8 1/2. I expect that to tone down but at light up there is a lot. Nice dark start.

At the first third (24 minutes) the black pepper has toned down to around 7 1/2. The citrus, citrus peel, and brown sugar have somewhat decreased. There is still a touch of nutmeg and quite a bit of dark chocolate. And now we have black coffee. The cigar is medium bodied. The finish is dark chocolate with good lingering black pepper. There's enough sweetness to make the cigar enjoyable. I rated the first third 94.

As I moved through the second third (1 hour 1 minute) the sweetness continued to dip slightly. Not much but enough to make a difference. There is still plenty of dark chocolate and black coffee. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is citrus peel and dark chocolate with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is still good. I rated the second third 93.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 26 minutes. The sweet notes got back to the way they were initially. Now there's nice citrus, citrus peel, and brown sugar along with a lot of dark chocolate and black coffee. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is citrus peel with hints of brown sugar and dark chocolate. There is very good lingering black pepper. I rated the final third 94. A very good dark noted cigar.
