Last night, the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) launched our in-person educational series with a reception honoring Congressional Cigar Caucus Co-Chair Representative Dan Meuser of Pennsylvania’s 9th Congressional District and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States. The event featured premium cigars from Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic and was widely attended by Congressional staff, dignitaries, and friends of the association.
“Last year was a very successful year for the premium cigar industry and the support of our honorees and their efforts helped make it so successful. Not only is this a celebration of our legislative, regulatory, and litigation victories, but also an opportunity to look ahead to our local, state, federal, and international advocacy commitments on behalf of premium cigar retailers, manufacturers, and consumers,” said Scott Pearce, Executive Director of the PCA.
“The cigar industry is an engine of economic and social stability for the Dominican Republic. For this reason, we thank the Premium Cigar Association for this recognition that is a testament to the strong link between our countries, and the excellent work that the embassy and PCA undertook together last year. We must continue to be vigilant and strive to present the facts of this industry, that is often the unjustified target of a one-size fits all regulatory framework. The livelihoods of hundreds of thousands are at stake each time a new regulation is proposed,” said Ambassador Sonia Guzman of the Dominican Republic.
“As a member of Congress and Co-Chair of the Congressional Cigar Caucus, I am always glad to join the Premium Cigar Association and the great work they do to advocate on behalf of the premium cigar industry. The premium cigar industry employs thousands of people across America, including many in my district, and is an economic driver in communities around the world. The Congressional Cigar Caucus will continue to advocate for the premium cigar industry and policies that support our workforce, our agricultural industry, and our economy.” – Congressman Dan Meuser, Co-Chair of the Congressional Cigar Caucus.
PCA will continue hosting quarterly events directed towards policymakers, think-tanks, local retailers, and premium cigar enthusiasts.
