Casa 1910 Sampetrina (5 x 50)

Video review HERE.

(Description provided by Casa 1910)

Another cigar that is part of the Soldadera Edition, honoring the immensely brave and powerful women who took part in the Mexican Revolution.

Petra Herrera "Sampetrina" was a brave Soldadera of the Revolution. She actively participated in the struggle, disguising her gender to join the forces commanded by Pancho Villa. She adopted the name Pedro Herrera and dressed as a man. She took part in innumerable battles where she stood out and achieved a notable reputation for her exemplary leadership. Despite achieving numerous significant victories, Petra was never officially recognized, leading her to abandon Villa’s forces and organize her own female-only brigade. It is said that she managed to gather up to a thousand Soldaderas.

We are dedicating this cigar in Petra’s honor. We want to shine a light upon her incredible leadership and skills with explosives.

The cigar looks very nice and has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a little citrus peel, nice pear and brown sugar, earthiness, and light leather. There was black pepper rated at 8. Nice start.

At the first third (24 minutes) the earthiness has decreased. There's more of a leathery black coffee at the base. The front end flavors are light citrus peel with quite a bit of pear and brown sugar. The cigar is medium bodied, leaning toward medium to full. The finish is leather with very good lingering black pepper. Nice overall notes at this point. I rated the first third 93.

Moving through the second third (52 minutes) the earthiness has crept back in. There's a lot more leathery black coffee. The pronounced sweet notes took a little dip. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The sweet notes weren't hurt too bad by the increase in earthiness and elevated earthy black coffee. I rated the second third 92.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 6 minutes. The earthiness pulled back. Basically the cigar went back to the way it was in the first third. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I rated the final third 93. This is a pretty good cigar and well worth trying.

Overall Score: 92.67
