Lampert 1675 Edición Morado Toro (6 x 52)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

The third Lampert 1675 Edición blend has shipped to 10 stores ahead of a nationwide launch in mid-April.

The Lampert 1675 Edición Morado uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and four-year-old fillers grown by the Ortez family in Condega and Jalapa. Like the Edición Azul and Edición Rojo, the Morado is made at the Ortez family’s AgroIndustrial Nicaraguense de Tabacos S.A. factory in Condega, Nicaragua. Morado is Spanish for purple.

It is offered in the same three sizes as the other two Lampert 1675 Edición blends, though the Short Robusto size won’t begin shipping until later in the year.

Lampert describes the Morado as “full-bodied, full flavor.”

Currently, the cigar is offered at 10 retailers, though it will begin shipping to other stores next month.

The cigar is quite dark and I love their band. The cigar has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was not great so I used my PerfecDraw tool to open the draw. The initial flavors at light up were citrus peel, brown sugar, almond, dark chocolate, and leather. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. The cigar starts quite dark noted with minimal sweetness. Hope it improves.

At the first third (30 minutes) I had the same notes but now there is leathery black coffee to go along with the dark chocolate. The random almond notes don't help the cigar, in my opinion. There is still minimal sweetness in the brown sugar which follows the citrus peel. The finish is almonds and leather with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. The flavors aren't working well together. The cigar is ok but not great. I rated the first third 90.

As I moved through the second third (59 minutes) there was a marked improvement in the brown sugar. There is still only citrus peel to go along with the brown sugar. I didn't have the almond notes anymore, which is a good thing. There was still plenty of dark chocolate and leathery black coffee. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is dark chocolate and leathery black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar improved. I rated the second third 92.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 21 minutes. The cigar made another big swing. The increased brown sugar in the second third almost disappeared. Even the citrus peel decreased. So I was left with a lot of dark chocolate and leathery black coffee for the most part. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish was unchanged. I rated the final third 88. This cigar is ok if you like a lot of dark notes but it does not have enough overall sweetness.

Overall Score: 90
