The cigar is a 6 x 52 box-pressed toro that uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers grown by AGANORSA Leaf. It is produced by AGANORSA at its Agricola Ganadera Norteña S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, with production limited to 500 boxes of 25 cigars. Kyle Gells, Warped’s owner, did not respond to an e-mail seeking details about the price, but retailers have begun listing the cigar for $12.50 and $312.50 per box.
The Bits of Havana line has previously been available through DROP, Warped’s direct-to-consumer online channel, and has included a red-banded version that is a Nicaraguan puro.
The cigar is dark and well made. It has an average feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a sweet pear with a little citrus influence, cinnamon, light brown sugar, earthiness, and leather. The leather is medium to light at this point due to the massive amount of black pepper, which I rated at 8+. The black pepper hits about the time you get the leather notes and it may hide some of the leather. The cigar tastes full bodied already. Nice start.
At the first third (24 minutes) the cigar is burning evenly. I had pear notes with cinnamon, earthiness, leather, and black coffee. There is still a lot of black pepper. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is leather with a little pear and very good lingering black pepper. I rated the first third 93.
As I moved through the second third (52 minutes) the cigar is still burning evenly and not much has changed. I still had pear, light cinnamon, quite a bit of earthiness, leather and black coffee. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is leather and black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar had a few minor changes but not enough to change the score. I held 93 for the second third.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 20 minutes. In the final third I had light to faint notes of pear, a little brown sugar, light cinnamon, a lot of earthiness and black coffee, and light leather. There is much more black coffee than leather. The cigar is full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The cigar lost a little due to the elevated black coffee. I rated the final third 91. Still, this is a good cigar from Warped. Well worth a try.
