The latest installment of the Viaje Zombie Antidote, which debuted in 2014 and has not been released since 2021. The cigar is considered a follow-up to the Zombie Series and comes in a 6 1/4 x 44 lonsdale vitola. The blend of the 2021 version was confirmed as a Nicaraguan puro, while pricing was set at $8.92 per cigar and it was offered in 24-count plastic jars.
The cigar is slender and has an average feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was fairly firm due to the small opening at the foot. The initial flavors at light up were lemon, brown sugar, earthiness, and leather. The sweet notes remind me somewhat of the lemon drop candy. In that direction but not as sweet. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. Decent start.
At the first third (25 minutes) I still had the lemon and brown sugar notes but the earthiness has gone up tremendously. The finish is leather with below average lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. Even with the high amount of earthiness there is enough sweetness to be somewhat enjoyable. I rated the first third 90.
Moving through the second third (56 minutes) the cigar is still very earthy and has increased somewhat. There are now some black coffee notes at the base to go along with the earthiness and leather. The front end note is more of a citrus peel with brown sugar and not a lot of them. The cigar is medium bodied, leaning toward medium to full. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. I rated the second third 86.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 13 minutes. The heavy earthiness pulled back somewhat and the front end notes, which are now more of a citrus, citrus peel, and brown sugar, went up. The cigar is medium to full bodied. There is still black coffee in the mix of the lower level notes but it has also decreased. The sweet notes almost match the earthiness/lower level notes. The finish is leather with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is as enjoyable at this point as it was in the first third so I rated the final third 90. This is an ok cigar, not great, but decent.
