(Description provided by Powstanie Cigars)

Powstanie Cigars, a premium cigar brand created by the Szczepankiewicz brothers, is proud to announce the release of a new size for its Connecticut blend: the Corona Gorda. The new vitola, named "Justice", is a tribute to the middle child of Mike Szczepankiewicz, the co-owner and master blender of Powstanie Cigars.

The cigar was originally blended over 9 years ago for the birth of his son. At that time, there were only 100 cigars made. The original band said “ApolloDani” in blue and pink. Fast forward 9 years later and the entire Connecticut core line for Powstanie was created solely off that blend.

“When working with a factory, I highly recommend you work with a factory that actually keeps records of your blends from close to a decade ago and can recreate that blend to a T.” said Mike Szczepankiewicz co owner and harder-working brother of Powstanie Cigars.

The Powstanie Connecticut Corona Gorda "Justice" measures 5 1/2 x 46 and features an Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper over a Pennsylvania broadleaf binder and aged Nicaraguan fillers. The cigar is handcrafted at the Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A. factory in Nicaragua, the same factory that produces the acclaimed RoMa Craft brand.

The Powstanie Connecticut Corona Gorda "Justice" will be available in boxes of 21 cigars, with a suggested retail price of $13.50 per cigar. The cigars will be released first at Boll Wevil Cigars in Enterprise Alabama on April 6th and then shipped nationwide shortly thereafter.

The cigar is lighter in shade and has an average feel in the hand.

The initial flavors at light up were a sweet, tangy orange citrus, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chocolate. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2 to 8. Nice start.

At the first third (26 minutes) I still had the citrus, brown sugar, and cinnamon with the chocolate but there's a touch of earthiness now. The earthiness is not helping the cigar. It's not out of control but it's noticeable. The finish is an earthy chocolate with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. At this point the cigar is very good. But if the earthiness rises it will hurt the score. I rated the first third 94.

As I moved through the second third (59 minutes) the earthiness is rising. It now seems like there is a little black coffee at the base. The chocolate is not as sweet and is more of a dark chocolate. The sweet notes are suffering somewhat. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is hints of citrus and earthy chocolate with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar pulled back a little. I rated the second third 92.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 19 minutes. It improved a little in the final third. The citrus notes made a little comeback and the cigar is not quite as earthy. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is very earthy with light chocolate and very good lingering black pepper. I rated the final third 93. This is a pretty good cigar and well worth trying.

Overall Score: 93
