(Description provided by Forged Cigar Co.)

Los Statos Deluxe is expanding its profile with an impressive new Connecticut Shade cigar. Los Statos Deluxe Connecticut, the third entry in the Los Statos Deluxe portfolio, builds upon the resounding success of the brand and continues the collaboration between Matt Booth and Justin Andrews with their lightest profile yet.

“When we started developing Los Statos Deluxe Connecticut, we wanted it to be a ‘smoker’s Connecticut’ in that it is a milder cigar compared to the rest of the Los Statos Deluxe portfolio, yet it has plenty of dimension, depth and nuance,” said Matt Wilson, Los Statos Deluxe Senior Brand Manager. “This is why we wanted to work with our friends at Joya de Nicaragua to deliver on this smoking experience that cigar smokers, newer and experienced alike, can truly enjoy.”

Los Statos Deluxe Connecticut features a blend of mellow to medium-bodied EstelĂ, Jalapa, and Pennsylvania Broadleaf tobacco with Nicaraguan Habano binder, all wrapped with Ecuadorian Connecticut. The result? A smooth, creamy, nuanced smoking experience.

Booth, Founder and Creative Director of Room101 designed eye-catching packaging for Los Statos Deluxe Connecticut to ensure that it stands out at retail and in smokers’ humidors. “Smoking Los Statos Deluxe Connecticut will set your soul ablaze,” Booth said. “It will be as if your very spirit has touched the sun.”

Los Statos Deluxe Connecticut is hand rolled at the Joya de Nicaragua factory in Nicaragua and presented in 20-count boxes. The line launched with four sizes.

Robusto (5” x 50); SRP per cigar $8.79 (REVIEWED TODAY)

Toro (6” x 52); SRP per cigar $9.49

Churchill (7” x 48); SRP per cigar $9.99

Gigante (6” x 60); SRP per cigar $9.99

The cigar is golden brown and has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good. The initial flavors at light up were a tart apple, brown sugar, and earthy black coffee. There was black pepper rated at 7 to 7 1/2. Pretty good start.

At the first third (27 minutes) I had apple, red pepper here and there, citrus peel, walnuts, earthiness, and a lot of black coffee. The finish is apple with a little black coffee and very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. I rated the first third 92.

Moving through the second third (49 minutes) I lost a lot of sweetness and the earthy black coffee is way up. The cigar is medium bodied and it's leaning toward medium to full. The finish is unchanged. The loss of sweetness dropped the score to 89.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 5 minutes. The cigar made a nice bounce back in the final third. The sweet apple returned, brown sugar, minimal citrus peel, walnut, and earth black coffee but at a more reasonable amount. Medium bodied leaning toward medium to full. The finish is hints of apple and a lot of earthy black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. I rated the final third 92. The middle section didn't help much but still a decent Connecticut cigar. These are available in 3 sizes at Small Batch.
