Black Works Studio has announced a new extension to its Killer Bee line known as the Killer Bee Swarm. This limited edition cigar marks the brand’s Fabrica Oveja Negra foray into the world of Cameroon wrappers.
The Killer Bee Storm consists primarily of a Cameroon wrapper, but it also has a Maduro and candela linear cap. The cigar also utilizes a Nicaraguan Habano binder and all Nicaraguan fillers. The cigar comes in one size – a 5 x 46 Corona. It is presented in 24-count boxes with pricing set at $10.50 per cigar.
“To say I’m excited about this release is an understatement. Cameroon is one of my favorite tobaccos and I’ve worked a long time to develop a cigar that highlights the distinct profiles it possesses. The Swarm is bold, spicy and extremely complex. It’s very unique, but also true to the style of the Killer Bee line,” said James Brown, creator of Black Label Trading Company, Black Works Studio and owner at Fabrica Oveja Negra in a press release.

The cigar is very well made and nice to view. It has an average feel in the hand. Unlike others in the Killer Bee series this has an open foot.
The test draw after cutting just a bit from the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were a very sweet caramel, cedar, brown sugar, a touch of cinnamon, a lot of a pasty, dry nutmeg, and black coffee at the base. There was nice black pepper rated at 7 1/2 to 8. The cigar has a very sweet start.
At the first third (20 minutes) the flavors are about like they started But, there are now buttery notes. At times during the first third I had flashes of citrus influence but very light. The cigar is very sweet. The nutmeg actually tones down the massive sweetness a little. The pepper is very good. The finish is one of caramel with a touch of nutmeg and very nice lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied at this point. A very tasty cigar. I rated the first third 95.
Moving through the second third (42 minutes) the cigar made some moves. The black coffee notes rose which made the cigar darker and the sweeter notes slightly decreased. The nutmeg is still holding strong and the black pepper is still very good. The finish is basically unchanged but the caramel now has some toasted qualities. I rated the second third 94.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 3 minutes. The final third was basically a carbon copy of the second third. Nothing much changed. The coffee notes were still elevated and the sweeter flavors were in the same intensity as the second third. The black coffee has some earthiness. The cigar is a solid medium to full bodied. The finish is now back the way it was in the first third without the toasted notes. Overall this is a very good Cameroon cigar with all the qualities. Very enjoyable. I held the score of 94.
