ADVentura Barbarroja’s Invasion Corona (6 x 44)

Video review HERE.

(Description taken from Halfwheel.com website)

The newest tale of ADVentura is called Barbarroja’s Invasion, and this next chapter takes things a bit darker and more aggressive, “in a world domination sort of way,” the company wrote in a press release. It said this new core line has been in the works for two years and promises that both the blend and the packaging are firsts of their kind.

The blend uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper atop a Dominican binder and filler, which includes medio tiempo tobacco. It will be available in three sizes:

ADVentura Barbarroja’s Invasion Corona (6 x 44) — $13.20 (Box of 20, $264) REVIEWED TODAY

ADVentura Barbarroja’s Invasion Robusto (5 x 52) — $14.20 (Box of 20, $284)

ADVentura Barbarroja’s Invasion Toro (6 x 54) — $15 (Box of 20, $300)

“Once you see and taste this blend and packaging, you’ll know why it took two years of pushing vendors and our palates outside of the box to create something that rivals the insane popularity of King’s Gold and Queen’s Pearls,” Marcel Knobel told halfwheel. In 2019, ADV & McKay received honors for its ADVentura The Conqueror packaging, which was recognized in halfwheel‘s 2019 Packaging Awards.

The ADVentura series is centered around the fictional adventures of ADVentura and his companion, McKay, as they make their way around the world on various adventures. In addition to the stories accompanying the cigars, they are available on the company’s website.

The cigar is dark and has an average feel in the hand. The cigar has a closed foot.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good considering it has a closed foot. The initial flavors at light up were peach, brown sugar, nutmeg, dark chocolate, and earthiness. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. Dark chocolate with some sweetness. Not a bad start.

At the first third (19 minutes) I still had the peach and brown sugar notes. There's quite a bit of nutmeg. The dark chocolate is now more of a fudge consistency. It's very thick and has no sweetness. The finish is dark chocolate fudge with good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. The thick dark chocolate outweighs the sweet notes. I rated the first third 92.

Moving through the second third (49 minutes) there were black coffee notes making the darkness even darker. Those, along with the dark chocolate are quite intense. There are only light notes, almost hints, of the peach. They are very overwhelmed by the darker notes. The nutmeg is also increased giving the cigar a chewy texture. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. The cigar is so dark and it has very little sweetness. I rated the second third 89.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 11 minutes. The cigar continued making dark transitions. In the final third I think I had every unsweetened dark note there is; dark chocolate, black coffee, and leather. All were there. There is only a minor hint of what might be brown sugar but it's so light it's fairly insignificant. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is dark chocolate, black coffee, and leather with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar sort of lost me. I rated the final third 85.
