FORTIS Cigars was born from our passion and appreciation for quality premium cigars.
As enthusiasts we sought a trusted leader with an impeccable legacy and reputation in the cigar world. We are blessed to collaborate with our friend and Master Blender Mr. AJ Fernandez, founder of Tabacalera AJ Fernandez, to create our dream cigar FORTIS Gran Reserva.
From the world-renowned region of Esteli Nicaragua, FORTIS Gran Reserva is hand crafted from the finest leaf. An extraordinary blend of Nicaraguan long fillers and binder finished in a San Andres wrapper.

The cigar is very dark and well made. It has a very good feel in the hand.
The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were citrus consisting of lemon and tangerine, cedar, brown sugar, earthiness, and a lot of dark chocolate. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2. Pretty good start.
At the first third (26 minutes) there is more of a citrus note with orange citrus, brown sugar, earthiness, and a lot of dark chocolate. The finish is dark chocolate and good lingering black pepper. The cigar is medium bodied. The cigar has nice flavors but just a touch more dark chocolate than I'd like. I rated the first third 93.
As I moved through the second third (58 minutes) the front flavors are more of a citrus/cedar with brown sugar, less earthiness, and not as much dark chocolate. It's a much better mix. The flavors are more evened out. The cigar is a low grade medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. I rated the second third 94.
The cigar lasted 1 hour 39 minutes. In the final third the cigar had an increase in dark chocolate. There is minimal sweetness from brown sugar. The cigar is still a low grade medium to full bodied. The finish is unchanged. Dark chocolate with a little brown sugar isn't a bad flavor but the cigar lost a little with me. I rated the final third 92. I still think this is a good cigar and well worth trying. Look for them when they hit widely in September.
