(Descrption provided by Powstanie Cigars)

Powstanie Cigars is proud to announce the release of the Powstanie Mexican San Andrés Corona Gorda, a new vitola that further underscores the brand’s commitment to bold flavor, balance, and meticulous craftsmanship. Orders for this release are now open.

Wrapped in a well-fermented Mexican San Andrés wrapper, the Corona Gorda highlights the depth and richness that this celebrated tobacco is known for. Beneath its dark, toothy exterior is a carefully constructed blend featuring an Indonesian binder and premium filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The result is a full-bodied smoking experience that delivers intensity, balance, and complexity in equal measure.

The Corona Gorda format allows the wrapper to take center stage, amplifying natural notes of dark cocoa, espresso, roasted earth, and subtle spice, while maintaining a smooth draw and consistent burn from start to finish.

“This vitola really lets the San Andrés wrapper speak,” said Mike Szczepankiewicz, one of the brothers behind the Powstanie brand. “The Corona Gorda brings forward the richness and texture of the blend while remaining refined and approachable.”

The Powstanie Mexican San Andrés Corona Gorda is available for order now and will begin shipping to retailers shortly.

The cigar is very dark and has an average feel in the hand.

The test draw after cutting the cap was good with a touch of firmness. The initial flavors at light up were apple, lime, brown sugar, light leather, and Espresso. There was black pepper rated at 7 1/2 to 8. Nice start.

At the first third (18 minutes) there is a nice, thick sweetness in the cigar. The notes now are apple, citrus peel, brown sugar, light leather, and Espresso. The cigar is medium to full bodied. The finish is black coffee with very good lingering black pepper. The cigar is stout, sweet, and dark. I rated the first third 94.

As I moved through the second third (42 minutes) the cigar has a good mix. I had apple, brown sugar, a touch of toffee and dark chocolate, and Espresso. The cigar is now full bodied. The finish is black coffee with a hint of toffee and very good lingering black pepper. I rated the second third 95.

The cigar lasted 1 hour 7 minutes. The only thing that changed in the final third was the loss of apple but the brown sugar and toffee made up for loss. The espresso was still nice with a little dark chocolate. The cigar is quite full bodied. The finish was unchanged. This is a very good dark noted cigar. It compares nicely with the robusto, which I reviewed last year. I held the score of 95. Put these on your "must try" list.

Overall Sore: 94.67
